Our Process | Tar & Gravel Roof
The tar and gravel roof membrane is a good solution for hot and dry climates. Compared to shingles, which use the pitch of the roof to protect it from moisture, the tar and gravel roofing surface uses hot tar and roofing felt to seal the roof. Built up roofs can last anywhere from 10-20 years depending on the initial installation and ensuring debris is removed after storms. The layer of crushed rock functions to hold the roofing material down and minimize damage from the strong New Mexico sun.
